Ukulele Group to Receive Award from VolunteerNH
September 27, 2024The Southern NH Ukulele Group (SNHUG) will be honored as a recipient of the “Volunteer Champion” award at the upcoming Spirit of New Hampshire awards ceremony, hosted by VolunteerNH. This prestigious event will take place on October 21 at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, starting at 5:30 PM.
Since 2003, the Spirit of New Hampshire Awards have honored exceptional volunteerism across the state, recognizing individuals and groups who go "above and beyond" in their service to others. These awards shine a spotlight on New Hampshire's unsung heroes, celebrated in the presence of their families, friends, and the wider community.
All friends and supporters are invited to join the group for this special occasion. Along with receiving this honor, SNHUG will perform during the event, welcoming guests and fellow awardees with their signature uplifting tunes as they arrive for the reception.
Since 2012, SNHUG has been dedicated to giving back to the community. In collaboration with the Ukulele Kids Club, a 501(c)(3) organization, the group helps bring the healing power of music therapy and ukuleles to hospitalized children locally and nationwide. Additionally, SNHUG offers free beginner ukulele workshops and provides a traveling “ukulele library” to libraries and other community spaces throughout New Hampshire. The group also performs at fairs, festivals, nursing homes, and veterans’ homes across the state and beyond.
