“THE NATURE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE: NATURA...Description
The Active Retirement Association (ARA) offers programs reflecting the many interests of people 50+ years old, retired or not. Please join us to meet new friends, sample delicious refreshments, and learn more about the ARA and its upcoming activities at our General Meeting on Monday, October 16, 2017, 1:30 pm, Durham Evangelical Church (lower level), 114 Dover Road (Route 108), Durham, NH. The program will feature Malin Clyde discussing “The Nature of New Hampshire: Natural Communities of the Granite State.” In this dazzling photographic presentation, UNH Extension educator Malin Clyde will share images of New Hampshire’s natural beauty through the lenses of New Hampshire Natural Heritage Bureau ecologists and photographers Ben Kimball and Dan Sperduto. Through photos of rare and special plant communities and habitats throughout the state, you’ll learn new ways to look at the natural landscape, as well as where to visit some of New Hampshire’s most ecologically special places. Ms. Clyde is an Extension Specialist with UNH Cooperative Extension with expertise in environmental stewardship and citizen science. Three years ago, she launched The Stewardship Network: New England, an Extension initiative that is building a culture of stewardship in New Hampshire by mobilizing volunteers for stewardship and citizen science projects hosted by over 180 different towns, agencies, and non-profit groups. Ms. Clyde lives in Durham with her family and is an enthusiastic user of the town's network of conservation lands, trails, and natural communities. Currently the ARA has over 360 members from over 40 communities in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, who support the organization by annual dues. We offer lectures, discussion groups, films, cultural tours, walks/hikes, classes, special-interest groups, and much more! For additional information, visit our website at www.unh.edu/ara or contact Membership Director Geoff McConnell at 603-743-4494 or info@ara-nh.org. (ARA, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is not affiliated with any political, religious, ethnic, or special interest group.)
