Meet and Greet with Author Donald “Do...Description
After almost drowning while kayaking the Chattooga River, Donald “Doc” Sanborn needed a way to help him remember every single extraordinary detail of that day so he began writing. Unfortunately, a career in human services demanded most of his time, but the seed had been planted. It wasn’t long after retiring that Sanborn picked up his passion again. Now a published author, Sanborn is sharing his love of writing with others.
Sanborn will visit the Dover Public Library to read from his latest work, Escape From Xanadu: A Memoir of Survival, Adventure, and Coming of Age. Xanadu is set on the banks of the Bellamy River on Dover Point during the early 1950s, where Sanborn said he lived a “Tom Sawyer-esque existence.” The memoir covers many of his early adventures including attempting to “bronco-bust” a 550-pound hog; how his “crazy neighbor” tried to shoot him and his dog; how Sanborn missed shooting his own father, and a number of unrequited, pubescent puppy loves.Tell a Friend
