“MANAGING YOUR MEMORY: WHAT’S NORMAL,...Description
Have you ever worried that your memory isn’t what it once was, and wondered how to find out whether you should be concerned? Here’s your chance to find some answers. The Seacoast Memorial Lecture Series welcomes neuropsychologist Dr. Maureen K. O’Connor, who will discuss “Managing Your Memory: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and What To Do About It.” The presentation is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome. Please join us on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, 1:30 pm, at the Durham Evangelical Church (lower level), 114 Dover Road (Route 108), Durham, NH, to learn more. With over 4.1 million Americans over the age of 65 in the United States, many of us are searching for guidance as to how much memory loss is to be expected as we grow older, and what should trigger a visit to the doctor. Dr. O’Connor will explain which types of memory failures are normal and which are not, how and why you should have your memory evaluated and treated, how to strengthen your memory, and how to plan your future. Educated at Ithaca College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University, Dr. O’Connor is the Director of Neuropsychology at the Bedford Veterans Hospital (MA) and Assistant Professor of Neurology at Boston University, where she serves as Associate Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Center Education Core. Her research centers on Alzheimer’s disease, including the development of treatment interventions designed to improve patient functioning and reduce caregiver burden. With neurologist Dr. Andrew E. Budson, she is the author of Seven Steps To Managing Your Memory (Oxford University Press, 2017). The Seacoast Memorial Lecture Series is a public service presentation of the Active Retirement Association (ARA). The ARA is supported by annual dues from its 350+ members who represent over 35 communities in southern Maine and New Hampshire.
