Lower School Outdoor Classroom Exploration

Does your preschool or elementary-aged child love to explore nature? Join us on Sunday, October 19 at 9 a.m. for a hands-on morning in Berwick Academy’s Outdoor Classroom. Led by our Lower School faculty, this Outdoor Classroom Exploration event invites children and their families to visit our 80 acre campus and experience the joy of learning through outdoor play, exploration, and discovery. What should attendees expect? Each family in attendance will receive a copy of a mystery book! Begin the morning’s exploration in our Lower School for a nature-based story time with our teachers. Gear up! Bring hiking or rain boots and clothing for the weather. Attendees can use our sturdy ‘rain overalls’ - we have plenty for every child in attendance! Walk across campus to our Outdoor Classroom - check out our campus garden and collect ‘nature items’ along the way (we’ll provide materials to help with this!) Engage in a unique outdoor activity, enjoy free play and exploration of our Outdoor Classroom (think mud kitchen, rope swings, wooden blocks, hammocks, and nets to catch frogs!) Finish the morning with a Story Walk followed by free play and snack time in the Lower School Outdoor Exploration Space (our playground area!) Learn more about the importance of outdoor learning as a component of elementary education (and beyond), and how we intentionally weave nature, sustainability, our community garden, and outdoor experiences into our Pre-K through Grade 4 experiences.
