Housing and Hiring: What Employers Need to Know
About Workforce HousingDecember 5 , 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Radisson Hotel, ManchesterPlease join the Business and Industry Association, in partnership with Housing Action New Hampshire and sponsored by the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, for a luncheon event on housing in New Hampshire.
Employers are in hiring mode as the national economy continues its slow expansion. But many employers around the state are finding that inadequate affordable housing and rental options are restricting the pool of desirable candidates.
Other businesses report that a lack of affordable housing is causing employees to commute longer distances to work, which is negatively impacting attendance and productivity. Many savvy employers are already involved in regional workforce housing coalitions that support the development of more rental and workforce housing projects.
Our panelists will discuss how an inadequate affordable housing supply impacts hiring, retention and productivity.
Panelists include:
- Sarah Currie, director of recruitment, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center
- Cliff Sinnott, executive director, Rockingham County Regional Planning Commission
- Rebecca Perkins, 603 Initiative, attorney, Orr and Reno
- George Reagan, housing awareness program administrator, New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority
The cost to attend the luncheon is $35 for BIA, Capitol Connect, Housing Action NH, and regional housing coalition members, and $49 for future members.
