Documentary Screening Sheds Light on ...Description
Writing to invite your listeners to attend the FREE documentary screening for a new short film, “Gravity,” in which Academy Award ® winning filmmaker, Cynthia Wade, turns her lens to the challenges people face living with rare, chronic, progressive blood cancers known as Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (or MPNs). The event will be taking place at Portsmouth Courtyard by Marriott on July 19 at 7 p.m. This captivating short-form film tells the story of Amy and Scott Brown, a couple whose lives got turned upside down when Amy was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer. Rare diseases affect 30 million people living in the United States alone. This equates to one in 10 Americans or 10% of the U.S. population. Still, due to the obscurity of these diseases and the silent symptoms which can be hard to detect, they can take years to be accurately diagnosed. What: The short documentary film will be followed by a panel Q&A with Amy and Scott, alongside director Cynthia Wade and a hematologist from Massachusetts General, in which they will be able to discuss this documentary and the impact of this rare disease from various perspectives.
