Description
Join the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce and host Players' Ring Theatre for our September Local Experts.
Live theatre can be transformative—for both the audience and the actors—whether it’s on Broadway or in a small local venue. But behind that moment when the lights go down is a world of strategy, creativity, planning, and hard work.In this interactive Local Experts, we’ll take you through every phase of bringing a production to life: how plays are chosen within a season, the audition process, the collaborative magic of set, lighting, costume, and props, and the leadership of the director and producer. And yes—we’ll also talk about the spreadsheets, budgets, timelines, and tough decisions that keep a theatre thriving.
We’ll be meeting right on the set of our season opener - WAITING FOR GODOT - using it as our playground for a hands-on look at the creative and operational gears that turn behind the scenes.
You’ll walk away with a fresh appreciation for live theatre—not only as an art form, but as a vibrant, high-stakes business that fuels our local economy.
Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably, as we will be moving and exploring.
